WITH RESPECT to the November 15, 2023, meeting of the EarthCare Advisory Committee, we recommend that the agenda as printed, including any additional information and new business, be confirmed.

THAT the Minutes of Meeting 06-2023 EarthCare Advisory Committee, held on October 18, 2023, be confirmed.

WITH RESPECT to the land acknowledgement brainstorm activity held at the October 18, 2023 EarthCare Advisory Committee meeting, the following land acknowledgement was approved. We acknowledge the land this Advisory Committee gathers on. The EarthCare Advisory Committee – Wednesday, November 15, 2023 Members of our committee are honoured to live, work, and play in Thunder Bay, on Anishinaabe lands within the Robinson-Superior Treaty of 1850 and on the traditional territory of Fort William First Nation. We also acknowledge the contribution of the Métis and Inuit peoples to our community. These lands and waters provide for our community, and we are grateful to the original caretakers and stewards that have left the gift of healthy soil, air, and water so that we can live good lives. However, we have been quick to justify the erosion of these gifts in pursuit of other goals. The climate crisis is a symptom of our fractured relationship with the land and its gifts. Our Advisory Committee believes that it is through advocacy and action that we can restore the gifts left to us, not only to ensure the health and prosperity of these lands for future generations, but to repair and strengthen our relationship with all our relations. We are eager to walk the path of healing and commit to nurturing good relations with the land, water, sky, and all our relations that call this area home.

WITH RESPECT to the EarthCare Advisory Committee we recommend that the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) prepared by Sustainability Coordinator Summer Stevenson in October 2023, be approved; AND THAT the approved land acknowledgement from the brainstorm workshop held on November 18, 2023, be included in the TOR.
